The Hellenic Ornithological Society has launched the Greek Breeding Bird Atlas (GBBA1), the first attempt to map the distribution of breeding bird species over the whole of the country! The GBBA1 project will cover the period 2010-2020 and comprises part of the larger and very ambitious European Breeding Bird Atlas 2 (EBBA2) project, led by the European Bird Census Council (EBCC), in collaboration with partners from all over Europe. The EBBA2 will run from 2013-2017 and plans to produce a new atlas for breeding birds in Europe, to update the ground-breaking first atlas, whose is now 30 years old.
