Site Description
A rugged limestone mountain. The northern part is covered by extensive Pinus forest, other areas with fir Abies forest, and the higher parts with alpine grassland. The Kalavrita side of the mountain is used for winter tourism. Elsewhere the main activity is livestock-farming.

Habitats: Coastline/rocky areas (Inland cliffs; Scree and boulders), Forest (Native coniferous woodland; Treeline ecotone), Grassland (Alpine, subalpine and boreal grassland), Shrubland (Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis), Wetland (Rivers and streams)

Land use: forestry, tourism/recreation

520ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Lagada- Fteres- Vageni- Kastraki/Kastrion, 520ha).


Birds
This is an important site for species associated with conifer forests, alpine pasture and upland rivers.

Conservation issues
