Site Description
A steep ravine with sheer cliffs, Pinus forest and olive-groves. At higher altitudes pasture land and Abies forests dominate.

Habitats: Artificial landscapes (Forestry plantations; Perennial crops, orchards and groves), Coastline/rocky areas (Caves; Inland cliffs; Scree and boulders), Forest (Alluvial and very wet forest; Broadleaved deciduous woodland; Native coniferous woodland; Treeline ecotone), Shrubland (Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis), Wetland (Rivers and streams)

Land use: agriculture, forestry, tourism/recreation

Part of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Krastoni-Sokara/Vrachniou-Kalavriton, 950 ha). Part of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Trapezas-Diakoftou, 2,000 ha).
1683 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) AISTHITIKO DASOS KALAVRYTON(GR2320004).


Birds
This is an important site for raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Falco naumanni (passage).
