Site Description
A small coastal lagoon east of the town of Aegio, with reedbeds ( Phragmites ), saltmarsh and shingle-beach. The site is popular for recreation.

Protection status
National Partial International None 20ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Limnothalassa Alykis Aigiou, 100ha).32 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) ALYKI AIGIOY(GR2320006).
Birds
The site is important for overwintering ducks, migrating waders and other passage migrants. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aythya nyroca (5- 25 passage individuals), Larus audouinii (5- 35 passage individuals).

Conservation issues
The main threats are disturbance from recreation and limited infilling. The area is a candidate SAC.
