Site Description
A large freshwater lake with extensive reedbeds ( Phragmites ).

Land use: agriculture (5%), fisheries/aquaculture (90%), urban/industrial/transport (5%), water management (90%)

2690 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) LIMNI IOANNINON(GR2130005).
Birds
This is an important site for wintering ducks (Anatidae) and breeding species associated with reedbeds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Phalacrocorax pygmeus (wintering), Aythya nyroca (breeding).
