Site Description
A forested mountain, dominated by Fagus and Quercus , with broadleaved evergreen forest in the eastern part of the site and evergreen scrub at lower altitudes.

Habitats: Artificial landscapes (18%, Arable land; Other urban and industrial areas; Perennial crops, orchards and groves), Forest (54%, Broadleaved deciduous woodland; Broadleaved evergreen woodland), Shrubland (27%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis)

Land use: agriculture (25%), forestry (54%), tourism/recreation (10%), urban/industrial/transport (5%)

1,100ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Ag. Dimitrios- Itamo/Mileon- Xourichtiou, 1,100ha). 1,800ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Dasos I.M. Flamouriou/Keramidiou, 1,800ha). 2,300ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Dasos Palias Mitzelas/Pouriou, 2,300ha).

This is an important site for breeding forest species.

Conservation issues
The main threat is from intense hunting pressure outside the Wildlife Refuges. The road network is increasing. The area is a candidate SAC.
