Conservation issues
Logging and scrub burning are leading to gradual degradation of the habitat. Plans for a dam and reservoir in the gorge are a serious threat. The laying of poison baits continues and has already caused the loss of Gypaetus barbatus and Aegypius monachus from the site. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.

Threats: afforestation (low), burning of vegetation (low), construction/impact of dyke/dam/barrage (medium), deforestation (commercial) (medium), firewood collection (low), forest grazing (low), groundwater abstraction (low), infrastructure (medium), recreation/tourism (low), selective logging/cutting (medium), unsustainable exploitation (medium)
