Two freshwater lakes in an area of hills and mountains.

National Partial International None
Part of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Ampelia/Amyntaiou, 2,500ha). 440ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Maniakiou, 440ha).6699 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) LIMNI PETRON(GR1340007).
Birds
The site is important for wintering ducks and geese. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aythya nyroca (wintering), Haliaeetus albicilla (non-breeding).

Conservation issues
The main threats are water abstraction from Lake Vegoritida (`Other' threats) and pollution of Lake Petron (`Other' threats). Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
