Site Description
A small coastal wetland with standing water, sand-dunes, and reedbeds ( Phragmites ).

Habitats: Wetland (100%, Sand dunes and beaches; Standing brackish and salt water; Water fringe vegetation)
Land use: military, not utilised, tourism/recreation (40%)

Protection status
National None International None 633 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) LIMNOTHALASSA AGIOY MAMA(GR1270004).

This is an important location for breeding and passage waders.

Conservation issues
The main threats are from illegal house construction, filling-in of the wetland and rubbish tipping (`Other' threats). A small part of the wetland is used by the military. The area is a candidate SAC.
