Site Description
An almost flat peninsula of low sand-dunes with a lagoon, saltmarsh and Tamarix scrub.

Habitats: Shrubland (20%, Scrub), Wetland (75%, Coastal lagoons; Salt marshes; Sand dunes and beaches)

Land use: agriculture (60%), fisheries/aquaculture, tourism/recreation

450ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Tsairi/Epanomis, 500ha).450 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) LIMNOTHALASSA EPANOMIS(GR1220004).


Birds
This is an important site for wintering ducks and breeding, passage and wintering waders. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Branta ruficollis (up to five wintering individuals), Aythya nyroca (passage).
