Site Description
The site includes a coastal lagoon, a saltpan, saltmarshes and a marine zone. Human activities include salt production (`Other' land-use, below), agriculture, hunting and tourism.

Habitats: Sea/marine area (10%, Sea inlets and coastal features), Wetland (80%, Coastal lagoons; Salt marshes; Sand dunes and beaches; Standing brackish and salt water; Water fringe vegetation)
Land use: agriculture (30%), fisheries/aquaculture (10%), other (10%), tourism/recreation, water management (45%)

National None International None
357 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) LIMNOTHALASSA AGGELOCHORIOY(GR1220005).
Birds
This is an important site for passage and wintering waders. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Phalacrocorax pygmeus (up to 18 wintering individuals).
