Conservation issues
The site is seriously threatened by construction of a large dam in the marshland which began in 1996. This will flood areas of marsh-land and wet meadows. Other threats include hunting and the expansion of agriculture. A quarry is to reopen at the southern end of the site.

Threats: agricultural intensification/expansion (high), burning of vegetation (unknown), construction/impact of dyke/dam/barrage (high), disturbance to birds (high), drainage (high), dredging/canalization (high), infrastructure (high), unsustainable exploitation (high)
