Conservation issues
The main threats to the site are from the intensification of agriculture and the resulting over-exploitation of water, pollution and hunting. The water-level has dropped in recent years as a result of ground- and surface-water abstraction for irrigation (`Other' threats). Part of the area is a candidate SAC.

Threats: agricultural intensification/expansion (high), drainage (high), groundwater abstraction (high), industrialization/urbanization (medium), other (high), unsustainable exploitation (unknown)
