Site Description
Forested hills south of Lake Kerkini. Fagus forest dominates at higher altitudes and Quercus on the lower slopes.

Protection status
National None International None 28200 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) TECHNITI LIMNI KERKINIS - OROS KROUSIA(GR1260008).
Birds
This is an important IBA for breeding and passage raptors and breeding forest passerines. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla (2- 4 resident individuals), Aquila heliaca (passage), Falco naumanni (passage).
