Site Description
Rocky islands characterized by steep cliffs and scree with phrygana as the dominant vegetation. The main human activities are livestock-farming and hunting.

Habitats: Coastline/rocky areas (8%, Sea cliffs and rocky shores), Forest (5%, Native coniferous woodland), Shrubland (78%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis; Scrub)

Land use: agriculture (85%), fisheries/aquaculture (5%), not utilised (10%)

1,750ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Vananta- Vrochounta- Stioiendash Avlona- Tristomo/Olympou, 1,750ha).8791 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) KOS: LIMNI PSALIDI - ALYKI(GR4210027).


Birds
This is an important location for species associated with Mediterranean scrub and for breeding seabirds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Larus audouinii (breeding).
