Site Description
A mountain dominated by maquis and Pinus and Cupressus forest. The IBA also includes two coastal wetlands with reedbeds ( Phragmites ), a lagoon and saltmarsh.

Habitats: Artificial landscapes (9%, Arable land; Other urban and industrial areas), Forest (32%, Native coniferous woodland), Shrubland (50%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis), Wetland (5%, Coastal lagoons; Salt marshes; Standing brackish and salt water; Water fringe vegetation)

Land use: agriculture (60%), forestry (20%), military, tourism/recreation (5%), urban/industrial/transport (5%)

1,901ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Ag. Fokas- Psalidi/Kos, 1,901ha). Part of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Agginaropi- Galomandra- Pythos- Alykiendash Vai/Pyliou- Asfe, 437ha). 1,369ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Lagoudi- Konario/Asfendiou- Pyliou- Ko, 1,369ha).435 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) KOS: LIMNI PSALIDI - ALYKI(GR4210027).


Birds
This is an important site for breeding and passage raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Branta ruficollis (passage ), Larus audouinii .

The main threats include urban development and expansion, road construction, tourism development and hunting. The area is a candidate SAC.
