Site Description
A remote island and associated islets at the south-eastern edge of Cyclades. The island is dominated by phrygana.

Habitats: Coastline/rocky areas (20%, Rock stacks and islets; Sea cliffs and rocky shores), Sea/marine area (20%, Open Sea; Sea inlets and coastal features), Shrubland (60%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis)

Land use: agriculture (65%), fisheries/aquaculture (20%), not utilised (5%), tourism/recreation (10%)

180 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) NISIDES ANAFIS: FTENA, PACHIA, MAKRA(GR4220023).


Birds
This is an important site for breeding seabirds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Larus audouinii (7 breeding pairs).
