Site Description
The scrub-dominated islands in the South Cyclades and the adjacent rocky islets. Human activities include tourism, fishing, arable agriculture and livestock-farming.

Habitats: Artificial landscapes (10%, Arable land; Other urban and industrial areas), Coastline/rocky areas (15%, Inland cliffs; Rock stacks and islets; Scree and boulders; Sea cliffs and rocky shores), Sea/marine area (5%, Open Sea; Sea inlets and coastal features), Shrubland (70%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis)

Land use: agriculture (70%), fisheries/aquaculture (5%), not utilised (20%), tourism/recreation (5%), urban/industrial/transport (5%)

3,700ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Anemomyloi- Psathokalamos- Pr. Ilias Iou, 3,700ha). 400ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Rachidia- Trypales/ Folegandros, 400ha).7011 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) FOLEGANDROS ANATOLIKI MECHRI DYTIKI SIKINO KAI THALASSIA ZONI(GR4220004).


Birds
The area is important for breeding seabirds and raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Larus audouinii .
