Site Description
The easternmost island of the Cyclades. A rugged, rocky island, including Mount Krikelos. The south-east of the island has steep cliffs. Vegetation cover includes scrub, maquis, phrygana and remnant Quercus forest. A number of rocky islets fall within the site. Human activities include livestock-farming, tourism, fishing, and hunting.

Protection status
National None International None 1800 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) NISOS AMORGOS (VOREIOANATOLIKO TMIMA) KAI NISIDES: PSALIDA, GRAMVOUSSA, NIKOURIA, MIKRO KAI MEGALO VIOKASTRO, KRAMVONISI, PETALIDI(GR4220024).
Birds
The site is important for breeding and passage raptors, and species associated with cliffs and scrub.

Conservation issues
Threats include burning of vegetation for grazing purposes, overgrazing by goats and hunting. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
