Site Description
The site is dominated by maquis, phrygana and limited arable land. A small lake and some saltpans are included. There are many mines and quarries.

Habitats: Coastline/rocky areas (10%, Rock stacks and islets; Sea cliffs and rocky shores), Sea/marine area (Sea inlets and coastal features), Shrubland (70%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis)
Land use: agriculture (90%), urban/industrial/transport

Protection status
National Low International None 795ha of IBA covered by Breeding Station (Antimilos Island, 795ha).
Birds
This is an important site for migrating waterbirds and species associated with coastal cliffs and scrub. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aythya nyroca , Falco naumanni (5 breeding pairs), Larus audouinii .

Conservation issues
The most serious threat is from the existence and expansion of the mines and quarries. Tourism is limited to the beaches at Achivadolimni. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
