Site Description
The northern part of Syros and the surrounding rocky islets, characterized by coastal and inland cliffs, and dominated by phrygana. Human activities include livestock-farming, fishing and hunting.

Habitats: Artificial landscapes (5%, Arable land), Coastline/rocky areas (20%, Inland cliffs; Rock stacks and islets; Sea cliffs and rocky shores), Shrubland (75%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis)

Land use: agriculture (80%), fisheries/aquaculture, not utilised

National Low International None
300ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Akro BD Pleura/Ano Syrou, 300ha).


Birds
An important site for passage raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Pelecanus crispus (passage), Haliaeetus albicilla (passage), Larus audouinii (20 wintering individuals).
