Site Description
A mountain with a variety of habitats including conifer forests, subalpine grassland, scrub, cliffs and arable land.

Habitats: Artificial landscapes (20%, Arable land), Coastline/rocky areas (10%, Scree and boulders; Sea cliffs and rocky shores), Forest (35%, Native coniferous woodland), Grassland (20%, Alpine, subalpine and boreal grassland), Shrubland (25%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis)
Land use: agriculture (70%), forestry (25%), not utilised (5%)

National None International Partial
6400 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) SAMOS: OROS KERKETEFS - MIKRO KAI MEGALO SEITANI - DASOS KASTANIAS KAI LEKKAS, AKR. KATAVASIS-LIMENAS(GR4120003).
Birds
This is an important site for raptors and passerines typical of Mediterranean scrub and forest.

Conservation issues
The main threats are the burning of vegetation, expansion of the road network, and hunting. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
