Site Description
A group of islands covered with maquis and phrygana and few trees. The main activities include fishing and stock-raising and some tourism.

Habitats: Coastline/rocky areas (10%, Rock stacks and islets; Sea cliffs and rocky shores), Shrubland (90%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis)

Land use: agriculture (90%), fisheries/aquaculture (10%)

1,230ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Xirokampos- Ftelia/Psaron, 1,230ha).500 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) NISIA ANTIPSARA & NISIDES DASKALIO, MATROGIORGO, PRASONISI, KATO NISI, MESIAKO, KOYTSOYLIA(GR4130002).


Birds
The site is important for breeding seabirds, and breeding and passage raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Falco naumanni (passage).

Conservation issues
The main threat is from intensive illegal hunting. Overfishing, disturbance and introduced cats and rats are also problems.
