Site Description
A mountain in the north of Lesvos. The vegetation is a mix of dense maquis, oak Quercus woodland, phrygana and olive-groves.

Habitats: Artificial landscapes (30%, Perennial crops, orchards and groves), Coastline/rocky areas (10%, Inland cliffs; Rock stacks and islets), Shrubland (45%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis), Wetland (5%, Shingle or stony beaches)

Land use: agriculture (40%), tourism/recreation (15%), urban/industrial/transport (10%)

190 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) NISIDES LESVOU (SYMPLEGMA TOMARONISION, KIDONAS, AGIOS GEORGIOS, GLARONISI, KLP)(GR4110009).


Birds
The site is of importance for breeding and passage raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Larus audouinii (non-breeding).
