Site Description
A small island, and its associated islets, between Kithira and Crete. Antikithira is covered mainly by low maquis and phrygana with a few arable areas and olive-groves. Prasouda is covered by low maquis and phrygana. Human activities include stock-raising, fishing, agriculture, and hunting.

2000 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) NISOS ANTIKYTHIRA KAI NISIDES PRASSONISI, LAGOUVARDOS, PLAKOULITHRA KAI NISIDES THIMONIES(GR3000012).

This is an important area for breeding and passage raptors and seabirds.

Conservation issues
The major threats are from uncontrolled grazing and illegal hunting. The area is used as a swordfish fishery. The area is a candidate SAC.
