Site Description
A rugged mountain chain which forms high cliffs along the south-east coast of Skyros. The dominant vegetation is phrygana with small patches of grassland and Quercus and Acer woodland.

Protection status
National None International None 4097 ha of the IBA are covered by Special Protection Area (SPA) SKYROS: OROS KOCHYLAS(GR2420006).
Birds
This is an important site for seabirds, raptors and species associated with scrub.

Conservation issues
The most important threat is overgrazing of the phrygana. This is also preventing regeneration of the remnant patches of woodland. Part of the area is a candidate SAC.
