Site Description
A rugged mountain with an extensive alpine zone, limited Abies woodland, and extensive grasslands. The main human activity is livestock-farming.

Habitats: Coastline/rocky areas (20%, Inland cliffs; Scree and boulders), Forest (43%, Native coniferous woodland; Treeline ecotone), Grassland (34%, Alpine, subalpine and boreal grassland; Mesophile grasslands), Shrubland (10%, Sclerophyllous scrub, garrigue and maquis), Wetland (5%, Rivers and streams)
Land use: agriculture (70%), hunting, not utilised

1,653ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Makria Rachi, Dryodasos Pentagion/Kokkinou, 1,653ha). Part of IBA covered by Controlled Hunting Area (Orini Parnassidus, 24,0341ha). Part of IBA covered by Controlled Hunting Area (Makrin Rachi, Dryodaxsos Pentagion, 1,767ha).

An important site for resident raptors, forest and alpine grassland.

Conservation issues
