Forest

Forrest (click to enlarge)
The most common tree in our Park's groves is the Aleppo Pine. Its needles are very slender and the cones hang from the branches on short "petioles". It's a tree that will survive without much care for many years.

This is explained by the fact that it is an indigenous species which occupies the forests in Attica and many other low-lying areas of the country. It covers a large part of the Park's hills housing in its thickets swarms of birds and other animals such as bats. Other coniferous species as well as small openings with shrubs complete the picture of the forest ecosystem.
